Foreign currencies and exchange differences

A document currency can differ from its book currency. The book’s rate source and rate-date rule determine its accounting value.

An invoice and its later payment can settle in the original currency while having different book-currency values. For example, a USD 240 invoice valued at EUR 216.81 and a USD 240 payment valued at EUR 220.20 leave a EUR 3.39 difference.

Review the configured exchange-variance account and resulting internal adjustment rather than changing the invoice to match the payment rate.

Compare source amounts, rate dates, rounding and payment allocations. Confirm settlement in the original currency and accounting for the ledger difference.
