Outstanding balances and statements
Review open receivables for money customers owe and open payables for amounts owed to suppliers. Check balances as of the relevant date.
Investigate a balance
Compare the invoice or bill with credits and allocated payments. A partial payment leaves a balance; an unallocated payment can leave a document open even after money reaches the bank.
Check the contact, currency and dates. Correct the allocation or source record and refresh after processing.
Prepare a statement
Use a customer or supplier account statement to collect documents and payments for the selected period. Review its opening position, movements and closing balance before sharing it.
For matching, see Payments and reconciliation. For period close, see Reconciliation and open items.
